Due to the popularity of braiding in recent years, more salons have started to offer braiding as part of their service menu, but there are only a few that can be called “Braiding Specialists”. Cairns Hair Braiding & Extensions deliver expertly crafted, beautiful braids for those who only want the best by an experienced technician. Braiding is what we do, every day, and therefore we have become experts in all types of braiding including the simple, the complex, formal & wedding styled braids and everything in between for all.

OUR PRODUCTS
We keep a full range of braiding products in our salon including maintenance products, jewelry, wax's, sprays, brushes, bonnets and durags to keep your precious braids in top condition for as long as possible.
BRAIDING IS WHAT WE DO
While we do offer other services, our braiding specialists braid everyday! While other hairdressers might offer braiding as an add-on service, we do nothing but braiding day in and day out. By doing so many clients a week it has helped us become experts in what we do and ensure you get the best possible service and results.

Our Hair Braiders are passionate about hair braiding and have years of experience in all types of women's, men's & children's braiding. You can choose from our wide range of braiding options, or bring in a photo of the braids you would like to create your own special look.
COLOUR OPTIONS
We keep over 100 braiding extension colours in stock to ensure you get the exact look you want. We have a full range of natural, ombre and bright colour options. We also have a full range of braiding jewelry to give your braids that extra special touch.

HOW LONG DO BRAIDS LAST?
This depends on the type of braids you are getting. Generally the smaller the braid the longer it will last.
Dutch Braids: 3 to 10 days.
Cornrows : 1 - 4 weeks
Box Braids: 6 - 12 weeks
Senegalese Twists: 4-8 weeks
Crochet braids: 4-8 weeks
Sleep is a big factor in how long braids will last. If you are a restless sleeper braids will get messier quicker. We recommend a silk pillow case/ bonnet, which we have available for purchase also to help extend the life of your braids.
HOW DO YOU REMOVE BRAIDS?
Generally you just unbraid it. Any extensions that have been added will just come out with the braid
SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR BEFORE MY APPPOINTMENT?
Braids generally go in better and last longer if there is some natural oil in the hair (2 - 3 days), but if you prefer to wash your hair prior to your appointment that is also fine. We are experienced with working with all different types of hair.
HOW LONG WILL BRAIDS TAKE TO DO?
For the simpler braid styles like dutch braids and cornrows up to 1 hour, ghana braids 1-2 hours, box braids and styles alike 4-5 hours with two braid technicians and crochet styles approx 3 hours.
CAN I GET BRAIDS WITH MY HAIR EXTENSIONS IN?
Yes it is possible. Some styles are not possible with certain types of extensions. If you have hair extensions please advise us at time of booking.
IS THERE A MINIMUM LENGTH OF MY NATURAL HAIR REQUIRED TO GET BRAIDS?
This depends on your hair type and braid type. Generally, we recommend that you have hair that is at least 10cm long at the shortest bits in order to get braids. For curly and afro textures, approx 5cm is plenty to work with. If you're still unsure, please see us for a complimentary consultation and we can see what we can do.
WILL BRAIDS DAMAGE MY
NATURAL HAIR?
How your braids are installed and how you care for them impacts whether or not you will undergo damage. Damage is caused when your braids are done too tight and when you leave them in for past the recommended time frame.
We practice safe braiding and our stylists are very gentle. You will not experience pain during of after getting braids done, and if the maintenance instructions are followed (which we know you will! :) ), you won't have a thing to worry about. If ever you have any issues or questions, we are here to help and will look after you.
